The flexibility of MOPS, discovered

Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 8:55 am

One of the aspects of MOPS that I’m starting to work out is just how flexible it is going to be (it was never planned that way!).  For example, it can be used in Industry-only mode to generate the requirement for traffic, but without having to locate, move and spot cars or run trains.  Or [...]

Ongoing Tweaks to the Data

Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 7:56 pm

There have been some ongoing minor changes to the Data, plus a couple of small corrections to the Data Schema diagram. These changes reflect some efficiencies as well as correcting issues discovered during the more in-depth analysis. The changes can be seen in Data Items and Data Diagram. The more in-depth analysis has re-covered 37% [...]

Adding detail to the functions

Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 8:24 am

Work continues on adding detail to the functions and making sure that the data supports the process. The current state of the Functions can be seen in MOPS Functions and the data in MOPS Data Items. The functions that have had further items added have their verb highlighted in grey. A couple of new columns [...]

Adding further detail to the Analysis

Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 6:44 pm

Currently, the work consists of running through each of the functions in detail and cross-checking against the data. Further detail is being added, discrepancies removed, missing data added, some efficiencies provided. As well as working through scenarios with the data, there’s also a cross-check taking place making sure that each record is created, deleted and [...]

The changing state of data

The deeper analysis continues. Having had a closer look at Blocks and Consists, it looks like we don’t need these items as separate pieces of data in the completed system – we can build blocks and consists ‘from scratch’ whenever we need to display them to the screen. We can just hold the relevant data, [...]
